Customer called in for new hvac system. Family Air assessed the system and performed a calculation on the house to determine the right size of unit needed. We discussed the benefits of converting over to an energy efficient heat pump. We removed the indoor and outdoor units along with some metal ductwork. We installed the new Amana 3.5 ton heat pump system with auxillary backup heat. We also replaced the drain pan, a/c disconnect, supply plenum, electrical whip, and added a surge protector. The unit is in and working as designed.

Customer a/c unit had froze up as they could see ice everywhere. We advised they turn the unit off to allow time to thaw. When Family Air arrived, the unit had fully thawed out. We found the refrigerant levels were very low which caused the unit to freeze. We performed an electronic leak test and found a leak in the system. This unit is very old, inefficient, and utilized R-22 refrigerant that has been phased out. We went ahead and topped off the refrigerant so they could have cooling and suggested a new unit as soon as possible.
