A homeowner in Mineola, TX called us because their air conditioner was not cooling and was cycling on and off every few minutes. That kind of short cycling is a clear sign something is wrong, and it needed attention fast — especially heading into a weekend.
When our technician arrived, the problem was found quickly. The condensate drain line was clogged. A water shutoff switch, which is designed to protect the system from water damage, was detecting the backup and cutting the unit off repeatedly. That's actually the switch doing its job — but it meant the system couldn't run properly until the clog was cleared.
The technician disassembled the drain line and flushed it out completely until it was clean and flowing freely. The drain piping was then reassembled and the shutoff switch was properly rewired back into the system. Once everything was back in place, the unit ran normally. No more short cycling. Cool air was flowing again.
Family Air HVAC Services was glad to get this resolved before the weekend. The customer didn't have to go days without a working air conditioner, and they left the visit knowing their system was back in good shape.
